Lemon Buttermilk Pound Cake

Cake
- 3 cups cake flour
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 sticks butter
- 4 eggs
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 3 Tbsp lemon juice
- 1 Tbsp lemon extract (optional)
Lemon Syrup
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup lemon juice
Make the Cake
Cream the butter.
Add sugar; cream together.
Add eggs 1 at a time.
Alternate adding flour and buttermilk.
Add lemon juice and extract.
Combine well.
Bake in greased cake pan at 350 for 45 - 55 mins (or until toothpick comes out clean).
Lemon Syrup
Combine sugar and lemon juice over medium heat. Bring to a boil.
Boil until sugar dissolves. Set aside to thicken and cool while cake finishes cooking.
When cake comes out of the oven, pour lemon syrup into bottom of cake and allow cake 10 mins (approx) to absorb liquid.
