A bundt cake with white icing and lemon zest.

Lemon Buttermilk Pound Cake

No words - just good!!!!

Ingredients
  

Cake

  • 3 cups cake flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 sticks butter
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 3 Tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 Tbsp lemon extract (optional)

Lemon Syrup

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup lemon juice

Instructions
 

Make the Cake

  • Cream the butter.
  • Add sugar; cream together.
  • Add eggs 1 at a time.
  • Alternate adding flour and buttermilk.
  • Add lemon juice and extract.
  • Combine well.
  • Bake in greased cake pan at 350 for 45 - 55 mins (or until toothpick comes out clean).

Lemon Syrup

  • Combine sugar and lemon juice over medium heat. Bring to a boil.
  • Boil until sugar dissolves. Set aside to thicken and cool while cake finishes cooking.
  • When cake comes out of the oven, pour lemon syrup into bottom of cake and allow cake 10 mins (approx) to absorb liquid.
