Ingredients
Cake
- 3 cups cake flour
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 sticks butter
- 4 eggs
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 3 Tbsp lemon juice
- 1 Tbsp lemon extract (optional)
Lemon Syrup
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup lemon juice
Instructions
Make the Cake
- Cream the butter.
- Add sugar; cream together.
- Add eggs 1 at a time.
- Alternate adding flour and buttermilk.
- Add lemon juice and extract.
- Combine well.
- Bake in greased cake pan at 350 for 45 - 55 mins (or until toothpick comes out clean).
Lemon Syrup
- Combine sugar and lemon juice over medium heat. Bring to a boil.
- Boil until sugar dissolves. Set aside to thicken and cool while cake finishes cooking.
- When cake comes out of the oven, pour lemon syrup into bottom of cake and allow cake 10 mins (approx) to absorb liquid.
