Ingredients
For the scones
- 3 cups flour
- 2/3 cups sugar
- 2 tbsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 1 cup butter, cold
- 1 egg
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
For the vanilla glaze
- 1 - 2 cups powdered sugar
- 4 - 5 tbsp heavy whipping cream
- 1 tsp vanilla
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Cut in the butter and mix with your hands until the mixture is like small peas/crumbs.
- In a small bowl, combine the egg, whipping cream and vanilla extract. Mix well and add to the dry ingredients.
- Combine the wet and dry ingredients together well. Incorporate chocolate chips into the mixture.
- Place the dough on a floured surface and lightly knead the dough to bring it together. You will also need flour on your hands.
- Roll out the dough to approximately 1 - 2 inches thick. Cut into desired shapes.
- Bake scones on a baking sheet for 15 - 18 minutes.
For the vanilla glaze
- Add heavy cream to the powdered sugar 1 - 2 tablespoons at a time until desired consistency is reached.
- Add in vanilla.
- Allow the scones to cool completely before glazing.
